For the final digital show of the 2020-21 season, percussionist Adam Beard played Adam Beard, violinist Russell Kotcher collaborated on a new music video with flimmaker Scott Miller Berry, clarinetist Emmalie Tello performed “The Sirens” by Judd Greenstein, Jackie Traish brought us “LIPSTICK” by JacobTV, and cellist Luis Mercado performed Kaija Saariaho’s “Sept Papillons”. Plus our featured wearable art designer & visual artist for 8.3 was Nana YaaSerwaah Akuoku, who presented “Life is a journey” Part I.

Resonant Refraction (RR) members Adam Beard, Russell Kotcher, Emmalie Tello, and Jackie Traish performed works by Alex Mincek, John Corigliano, JacobTV, & Ian Clarke. Filmmaker & visual artist Martha Naranjo Sandoval presented, “How this has to be told” - an exhibition of still photography, where the artist asks people to talk about pictures from her family album as if they were theirs.

NYsoundCircuit 8.1: “A Moment of Time” featured RESONANT REFRACTIONS (RR) under the direction of IAN SHAFER, the resident sinfonietta, front, center and socially distanced at Mise-En_Place in Brooklyn, webcasted directly to audiences. Performances of works by Ana Paola Santillán ALCOCER, George CRUMB, Gilbert GALINDO, David REMINICK, Carlos SIMON, David Jason SNOW, and Eunseon YU were interspersed by brief videos from the composers and a short film by MIRIAM AZIZ, "Ich sehe nicht die Stunde / I do not see the Hour ('ORA’)”.

NYsoundCircuit 7.1: “Renegade” celebrated the relaunch with bold and audacious musical and visual acts that spoke to the struggle and resilience of the human spirit to break free from regressive constraints and systems. The relaunch show featured composer HOWIE KENTY, musical groups the ÆON ENSEMBLE and RESONANT REFRACTIONS, the photography of LUCAS ANDAHL, video and film by JAIME IGLEHART and NYsC alumnus MIRIAM AZIZ, and the club stylings of DJ JCLEF.

NYsoundCircuit celebrated its sixth season by bringing diverse musical and visual creations. NYC staple ensemble loadbang presented a selection of works bridging the 13th century to the 21st with works by NYC ex-pat TOM JOHNSON, Long Islander WILLIAM LANG, and ars antiqua adept PÉROTIN THE GREAT. Trans-Pacific composer & koto player KENTO IWASAKI and Dutch composer LISELOTTE WESTERTERP brought music for voice, strings and koto. HIRONA AMAMIYA, soprano and violinist, interprets the poetry of MISUZU KANEKO amidst the paintings of Queens-based artist ALEXIS KANDRA.

NYsoundCircuit finishes off its fifth season in a blaze of sound, sight, and movement. Featured in sound is the versatile and raucous cellist, SETH WOODS who will present a program of premieres by George Lewis, Aaron Einbond, and Patricia Alessandrini. JAMES MOORE & ANDIE SPRINGER will give you colorful renditions of works for guitar and violin by Travis Just, Richard Maxwell, and James Moore with actor JIM FLETCHER. Oboist IAN SHAFER will give us a rare treat: an improvisation upon an improvisation on a piece by Elizabeth Hoffman. YUNG-LI CHEN will transform sound into movement, gracing us with her dance moves at various times. Flutist LAURA FALZON & violist EDMUNDO RAMIREZ serve you solos and duos by Carlos Castro, Nickos Harizanos, John Glover, and Shirish Korde. And to complete the show is our featured visual artist for the evening, the multi-faceted Korean-American/Kiwi artist YOUNG SUN HAN, projecting his work throughout the evening.

NYsoundCircuit celebrates its fifth season with fresh musical, visual, and spoken word acts while also highlighting staple artists of past seasons. ThingNY joins the fray by presenting theatrical chamber works by Paul Pinto and Erin Rogers as well as a newly created opera-in-progress, “This Takes Place Close By” about the prelude and aftermath of devastating storms. The powerhouse rockin’ pianist, AMIR KHOSROWPOUR offers his improvisational talents with a possible surprise guest. Spoken word performance artist POET GOLD presents her performance of “I M A Poet” along with her crew of vocalists. ROBERT DICK returns for the 3rd time in NYsoundCircuit history with a set of solo works, complemented by JESSICA MEYER’s own compositions for viola and electronics. Throughout the evening, seasoned NYsoundCircuit artist BILL MAZZA will capture the music, people, and architecture of the space in his continuing series, SPATIAL TENDENCIES.

NYsoundCircuit - the multimedia salon series - closes the season with one of its most varied sonic and visual explorations yet. Featured is the one and only turntablist MARIA CHAVEZ, making it easy as “1,2,3” with a solo, duo, and finally a trio set woven through the evening. Also lined up are ANGÉLICA NEGRÓN premiering a new set of songs for voice, clocks, accordions, toys, and electronics and violinist ANDIE SPRINGER performing “Dandelion” by MARY KOUYOUMDJIAN, exploring childhood manipulations of old home movies. Trumpeter HUGO MORENO performs “Toying” by Chelsea Music Festival Composer-in-Residency ERIC NATHAN. Saxophones wail as the NEW THREAD QUARTET delivers music from the lyrical to the virtuosic. DANIEL NEUMANN performs a multi-channel live improvisation, "A Corner as a Field" while the CURT SYDNOR QUARTET reimagines the architecture of Louis Sullivan in “Materials and their Destiny.” As if that wasn’t enough, PHYLLIS CHEN and ROB DIETZ round out the night and keep you up late with their macabre micro puppet show, "The Slumber Thief."

NYsoundCircuit – the multimedia salon series – continues its fourth season with an immersive night of strings vibrating every which way. Violin duo STRING NOISE headlines the night with several sets, in collaboration with video artist JANET WONG traveling in, around, and among the audience. Piano strings hammer, pulse, and pluck with the piano/dancer duo K A T E S and pianist CORY SMYTHE improvising. Soprano ELISABETH HALLIDAY gets in the mix with a number by Judith Weir. And psychedelic meets classical in the music of composer/guitarist ANDREW MCKENNA LEE, sounded by a company of singers and electric guitarists strumming and bursting through those boundaries.

NYsoundCircuit - the multimedia salon series - opens its fourth season at the DiMenna Center in Midtown West, Manhattan. Turntablist MARIA CHAVEZ continues her vinyl-based exploration of time and present moment. WILLIAM LANG presents a trombone program like none other performing Berio's Sequenza V and premiering 13 new works involving multiple trombones spread throughout Cary Hall. Pianist ADAM TENDLER drops by to bring you his exuberant piano stylings. And to bring it all together is our featured artist for the evening MIRIAM AZIZ whose immersive work "Lost for Words" will receive its world premiere involving an array of singers, a percussionist, a trumpeter, flamenco & ballet dancers, and a lone writer in the corner struggling to capture it all.

NYsoundCircuit - the multimedia salon concert series - continues at the DiMenna Center in Midtown Manhattan to present its third and final show of the season. RHYMES WITH OPERA (RWO) presents a program with works by Kathleen Bader, George Lam & Benjamin Rogers, and Adam Matlock & Brian Slattery. Internationally acclaimed audio-visual artist and singer FREDO VIOLA joins a quintet of musicians alongside his video creations in arrangements for voice, quintet, and electronics. Bang on a Can All-Stars pianist VICKY CHOW hammers on our Klavier and GARETH FLOWERS graces us with his trumpet and electronic sounds. BILL MAZZA creates the final installment of his live digital drawing series and on display throughout Cary Hall is the debut shirt & t-shirt collection of fashion designer CHANCE THACH - sure to get you talking. And to round out the evening are the beats of DJ ROBERTO X of "Invasion Thursdays" at Bar 13.

Violinist PAULINE KIM HARRIS, flutist LANCE SUZUKI with pianist MOLLY MORKOSKI, the EAST COAST CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE, and the PIERCY-HICKMAN DUO bring you non-stop performances of today's exciting and diverse acoustic, electro-acoustic, and electronic music. The video projections of ROB DIETZ will greet you in the lounge and neon sculptures by LOTTE VAN DEN AUDENAEREN will dot the performance landscape while BILL MAZZA provides you with his live digital drawing creations on the main screen. And to round out the evening, DJ REDSTAR will spin his "electro-ternative" dance stylings.

The music included: new acoustic works by Drew Baker, Gilbert Galindo, John Glover, Jay Vilnai; Terry Riley’s “Sunrise of the Planetary Dream Collector”; electronic works by Max Abeles, John McGill, and Darien Shulman, with DJ sets by Casa de Galindo. Performances by the ai ensemble, MIVOS Quartet, and the Joshue Ott trio with Robert Dick and Billy Gomberg. Visuals by Joshue Ott and a preview of the spring 2010 line of Cody Sai.
