NYSOUNDCIRCUIT 9.2:
PIPE MIX

SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2022, 7:30pm EST
CHURCH OF THE HOLY APOSTLES, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

NYsoundCircuit 9.2: PIPE MIX brings you pipes of various types, bold wearable art, sound poetry, and hip-hop vocals padded with the sounds of 21st century chamber ensembles and chamber orchestra. Headline artist and legendary experimental flutist ROBERT DICK returns, this time to perform his Concerto for flute / bass flute, strings, and percussion with RESONANT REFRACTIONS and members of the COMPCORD ENSEMBLE under the direction of Ian Shafer. Robert will also perform solo works from his catalog – utilizing The Glissando Headjoint™ (Robert’s invention) – along with music by Melissa Keeling and Lisa Bost-Sandberg. The CompCord Ensemble will showcase an eclectic set of music featuring works by Lynn Bechtold, Dan Cooper, Ginka Mizuki, Max Pollak, Marina Vesic, and Gene Pritsker. And Resonant Refractions will present large ensemble and chamber orchestra works by Gilbert Galindo, Clifton Joey Guidry, and Jennifer Higdon. WearableArt designer NANA YAASERWAAH AKUOKU will give a live performance of rhythm and poetry while dressed in HAUS OF YBA wearable art. Paying homage to avant-garde movement Lettrism, Artist-cum-museum guard JEVIJOE VITUG’s sound poetry impromptu entitled “Wordplay/Worldplay” attempts to liberate language in the digital world in which we are consumed. Plus, DJ and underground hip-hop artist SENERIO will bookend the event.
