NYsoundCircuit (NYsC) - the multimedia salon series that became a hotbed for underground new music and artistic creation for half a decade from 2009-14 - returned on February 1, 2020 at the Flux Factory in Long Island City, New York. NYsoundCircuit 7.1: “Renegade” celebrated the relaunch with bold and audacious musical and visual acts that spoke to the struggle and resilience of the human spirit to break free from regressive constraints and systems. The relaunch show featured composer HOWIE KENTY, musical groups the ÆON ENSEMBLE and RESONANT REFRACTIONS, the photography of LUCAS ANDAHL, video and film by JAIME IGLEHART and NYsC alumnus MIRIAM AZIZ, and the club stylings of DJ JCLEF.

The visual art

Projected throughout the evening is artist Jamie Iglehart’s video “Architecture of La Zad” features La ZAD, a post-capitalist commune formed as part of a resistance movement in opposition to the proposed Aéroport du Grand Ouest outside of Nantes, France. And a short film, “No Subject” by NYsC alumnus, Miriam Aziz will give us a moment of contemplative respite.
